As I grabbed my pre-cooked Scottish oats from the fridge, they went from this:
… to this. Featuring coconut milk + shredded coconut + carob chips + pumpkin granola + strawberries + peanut butter.
Lunchtime yoga class was hot and sweaty. Even though it was only an hour, it definitely seemed longer! It was good to see Dasha and Becca there too. And guess what? It’s Becca’s birthday!!!
Happy Birthday, Becca!!!
Lunch was definitely a highlight of my day:
Zucchini + mushrooms + bean sprouts + frozen peas + fried tofu with water and soy sauce.
And… a vegan sloppy joe!
Vegan Sloppy Joe
Ingredients:
- 1 foccacia bun
- 1/2 can of lentils
- 2 tbsp of salsa (I used mango and lime salsa)
- mustard
- spinach
Toast the focaccia bun. Put some fresh spinach on the bottom half. Drain lentils. Mix with salsa and mustard. Pile high on top of the spinach. You can add some extra mustard on the top bun for extra flavour.
With remaining carrot juice…
The SOF workout was MEAN today.
I loved it… Obviously.
We had to get three 35-45 lb sandbags up the hill. And, no, you don’t just carry it up the hill. You pick it up, throw as far as you can, run towards it, do a push-up, run all the way back to the bottom, and then to the bag again. Pick it up, throw as far as you can, repeat, repeat. We also had to complete 250 push-ups and 500 crunches as a team.
We also did the COOLEST exercise ever – a wheelbarrow with a sandbag on your back. In a regular wheelbarrow, someone picks up your feet, and you walk forward using your hands. In this version, you first balance a sandbag on your back, and THEN someone picks up your feet. This works your core like there is no tomorrow!!!
Then we travelled all across the football field, doing a sandbag pass to each other (with two bags going at a time). All the way to the chin-ups bars, where the corporal misinterpreted the exhausted look on my face as boredom.
That’s the only way I can explain the next few exercises that were thrown my way. As we were trying to complete 80 chin-ups (team total), I somehow ended up doing chin-ups with a 35 lb sandbag between my thighs!!!! These turbo chin-ups counted as a whopping 1.1 rep. Yippeeee… I did ten. No, not in a row. LOL
Oh, and did I mention ONE-LEGGED misery switches? Of course, misery was loaded with a couple of steel rebars. Then ONE-ARMED misery switches?
OMG. I was gushing about this madness to Vlad, and he had this confused look on this face the whole time. Then finally he said: “So which part of THAT was fun???”. Haha. To an SOF-er, that WHOLE thing was FUN. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!
Friday night and an amazing workout. Celebrate!
I grabbed lentil chips on my last trip to the supermarket at my brother’s recommendation. They really were amazing! Thanks, Alex!
More food: remainder of squash soup with 1/2 pita and New Balance.
And a salad! Spinach + broccoli sprouts + tomatoes + mango & lime salsa + pepitas (pumpkin seeds) + all-bran cereal + balsamic vinegar + EVOO (extra virgin olive oil).
Few hours later: mutant apple + crunchy peanut butter. This definitely gave me enough energy to endure couple of episodes of Supernatural. Finishing up Season 3!!!!
