day 23 – tweaked pancakes

10 May

I decided to try Bob’s Mill Buckwheat pancake mix (I got this at Superstore) again today. Last time I made about 1 cup worth of dry mix and inhaled the whole thing. :) It was great, but a bit much.

I also decided not to bother with measurements today, but just eyeball it, and keep adding milk until I reach pancake like consistency.

  • just over 1/2 cup of dry mix (next time I will try 1/3 cup to see if that’s sufficient)
  • 1 tsp of canola oil
  • 1 small container of peach apple sauce
  • hemp milk
  • small handful of frozen blueberries
  • almond butter + honey + sliced strawberries + banana as topping

Wow, that actually looks much more greasy than it is. :)

The muscle soreness (complements of Soldiers of Fitness training on Friday) is only now starting to subside. Of course, I have training tonight. :)

day 22 – kids yoga for adults

10 May

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom!!!

Another early morning today… I don’t remember the last time I got to sleep in on the weekend. Waking up so early on a Sunday makes me feel so productive! But kind of old… :)

Quick breakfast – instant oats with almond butter and pecans, and an apple with almond butter + mandatory caffeine kick.

The lunch break was longer than usual, so the whole gang headed over to an Indian buffet restaurant.

The food was fantastic – fresh and cooked from real ingredients.

My plates – mango salad, bean salad, tomatoes and cucumbers, spicy chickpeas, cauliflower and eggplant.

I did ask which dishes did not contain animal products, and the waiter even brought me a special order of naan without eggs!

Kim tasted honey dough balls. They were so sweet that we dared her to eat the whole thing in one bite. She did. Too easy!

After lunch – kids yoga. Suzanne actually led us through a kids’ yoga class. As usual, we took the task to heart. Tonnes of giggling, animal sounds and “Suzanne, Teena pushed me” exclamations. At the end, Suzanne declared that teaching kids was actually easier. :)

Group shot with Suzanne, one of our yoga teachers, and Coco the Monkey, who played the role of baby today.

Check out this license plate I spotted on a red light. Is this inspirational or what?

Vlad and I went shopping for a new phone, as my BlackBerry has been going through a slow death over the past six months. It all started when the camera stopped functioning, and now it loses about a function a week… :) On our way home, I picked up some pizza fixings, and random bright colors.

  • spinach
  • basil
  • oranges
  • cucumbers
  • pears
  • grapes
  • strawberries
  • red onion
  • hummus (I should buy stock in Sabra)
  • tofu
  • Jewish rye bread

Tomatoes were also supposed to be on this list, but I actually forgot the bag in the supermarket somewhere. Have you ever done that? I literally rested the bag on a shelf somewhere, and headed over to the cashier without it. I first thought that the cashier forgot to pack the tomatoes, of course, but then they were nowhere to be found on the receipt. Arrrrgh…

Pizza before

  • tomato sauce

Look how pretty!

I got a little bit too excited, so this happened…

IMG_1369IMG_1371

Whew, finally all the food made it to the plate.

Now, without mentioning specific slice ratio, we polished off the pizza! I even got full carnivore approval . :) Off to bed – it was a looong weekend.
