I definitely found a foodie friend in Lee!!! That’s actually her last name. And she calls me Solo, not Kate. That’s a story for another time.
We both are obsessed with food, and will try anything once. Also, any food restrictions go out of the window for one night. This makes us a perfect pair for restaurant experimentation. After the previous two trips (first – Japanese cuisine, second – Russian) were a success, the outing to Rawlicious was booked, and we spent weeks looking forward to it. The rules are: order an appetizer, or two, two different entrees, and a dessert or two, and split everything down the middle. This way each person gets to try twice as many things – efficiency!
Warning: when you put Lee and myself together in the same room, and throw some good food in, the mix is quite explosive…
It all starts out quite mild…
But starts going downhill VERY quickly…
Here’s the menu of drinks. No tequila was found. We were upset, but only until the discovery of ChocoMinty and Egg Nog Smoothie.
ChocoMinty on the right, and Egg Nog on the left. We liked the Egg Nog better – spicy!
As an appetizer – Nori Rolls with alfalfa sprouts, marinated mushrooms, avocado & fresh vegetables.
We were haaaappy, when these arrived!
Lee to Nori rolls:
“Love me tender, Love me sweet, Never let me go.
You have made my life complete, And I love you so. “
Ok, enough talk…
Our server Madison. She was amazing! She even promised to lock one of us in a vegetable cellar. Like I said… amazing!
She was also named after a mermaid in a 1984 film Splash. How cool is that? In the movie, Madison picks her name herself after walking down Madison Avenue.
Daryl Hannah playing Madison in Splash vs. our Madison – I totally see the resemblance!
Food, finally. What’s with blurry pictures, Lee?
Pizza with orange peppers, basil and zucchini on a warm sprouted buckwheat crust. Out of this world. I downed this in three bites. Lee – in two bites.
Rawitch – fresh veggies and sprouts with guacamole on onion bread, and a salad with Ginger Date dressing.
One thing you should know about Lee is that she eats fast. So fast, that it’s literally a blur. Thus, with Lee, you either also eat fast, or you don’t eat at all.
Taco Wrap – seasoned nut loaf, guacamole, chopped tomatoes, red onion, romaine lettuce, salsa and nut cheese. This is one of the best things on the menu! Apparently, also the most carnivore friendly item in the restaurant. We loved the cabbage leaf wrap – so fresh!
We were NOT leaving without dessert. No sir!
I present to you – the best cheesecake I’ve ever had on the left. And a brownie truffle on the right. This was a heavenly combination of really light and fluffy (cheesecake) and heavy, creamy and savoury (brownie).
Oh my… See the sly look? I’m already making plans to come here again and just order every dessert on the menu as a meal.
Lee was making foodgasmic faces all night… She was loving cheesecake, and boy, was the cheesecake loving her back. Get a room, you two!
Here is me with the lovely Madison, our server, and Megan, the chef. I think at this point they were dying to get rid of us. As the night goes on, we tend to get rowdy… despite the alcohol-free raw dinner… must be those mushrooms in the nori rolls.
Megan to Madison: If I smile wide enough, do you think they will finally leave?
Madison to Megan: I don’t think so. I’ve been trying all night, and nothing seems to work.
Lee, Madison, and Solo.
Another Lee and Solo feature / restaurant review is in the works!!!
